So this past weekend we traveled down to the Brevard, NC area for our best friend’s Wedding! I’m not even sure there are words to describe this whole weekend and Bryan and Jamie’s big day, but I will try!
First off we stayed in this super cool spot called the Sunset Motel. It was such a quaint little Motel that resembled a Bed and Breakfast (just without the Breakfast, haha). Each room had a cute little theme and the whole place was decked out in neat little nic-nacs. Coolest part was they had a cabin out back where Bryan and Jamie stayed to be hosts to their out-of-town guests and to always be near the party! Which was really awesome because we got to spend quality time with them all weekend and partake in every aspect of their unforgettable weekend.
On Friday we all woke up and went down to the reception spot (The Brevard Lumber Company) to help set-up tables, chairs, linens and get the basic decorations up, just the way Jamie wanted them. After this we all went to lunch and it was so much fun getting to see all the girls and catch up a bit. It had only been a month since we’d last seen one another but sometimes a lot can happen in a month! Honestly though, it was more just to hang out, eat some good food, and have a few drinks. After this we all went back to the Motel and just hung out until it was time to get ready for the Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner.
Like usual Rehearsal was pretty painless and quite fast. Before we knew it we were headed to the Rehearsal Dinner (Jaime’s Creole Brasserie). I wish I would’ve gotten pictures of the food spread they had out (I only took shots before they placed the food) because the spread was amazing! I also wish I would’ve taken a picture of my plate, but the food looked and smelled so amazing that my main focus was “get this in my belly!” Which I did. They had a nice southern spread though. First course cheeses, meats and jellies, the second course of Jambalaya, Grits, Shrimp Scampi and Pork Loin and a third course of Pastries and other sweet goodies. In typical Bryan and Jamie fashion they made the sweetest speech thanking us all for being apart of their day and then passed out the best wrapped presents ever (we call Jamie Krafty Kathy because she is perfect at DIY and her Wedding is the perfect testament because it was all DIY). The Groomsmen received Money Clips with inscriptions and the Bridesmaids received monogramed clutch/chain shoulder bags and necklaces to wear the day of (which Krafty Kathy made). After dinner we all hung out for a bit and then drifted on over to a bar across the street to end the night.
Saturday morning we woke up and went down for Wedding Day Breakfast. All the fixings were there and all of us girls sat around gabbing, getting our hair/make-up done, sipping on our mimosas, while we all beamed with Jamie in the excitement of her big day! Then the time came and we all watched while Jamie put on her dress and let me tell you, she was just breathtaking. I’m talking stand in your tracks, mouth drops, can’t speak, tears come to your eyes, breathtaking. Once we all were able to gather our thoughts and get ourselves together, Jamie’s Mom handed Jamie her brooch bouquet that they worked on for a whole year. This thing was gorgeous!!! And is such a great idea. I truly wish I would have thought of this, because you get to keep your bouquet forever, pass it down to your daughter, or (if you’re Jamie) find a super awesome spot in your house to display it until the end of time. On the stem of her bouquet hung charms. One was a locket with a picture of Jamie and her Mom, from when Jamie was little, then there were charms that held symbolic meaning. One for Bryan and his Mom, and then 2 other for Bryan’s Father and Grandfather who have both passed. Way better than flowers that you can’t savor. We then took our pictures and headed off to the Ceremony spot (Pretty Place Chapel, Cleveland, SC).
There couldn’t of been a more captivating venue to go along with our breathtaking Bride. When you looked out from the Chapel and saw the scenery you felt the spiritual vibes rock through your body. It was almost as if God himself was there just placing his hands on you and also there to bless Bryan and Jamie. The Ceremony was officiated by Bryan’s Cousin and she did such a great job. At one point she described Bryan and Jamie as individuals and she couldn’t of picked better adjectives and examples to describe them and their amazingness as Human Beings. I mean these two sponsor in-need African Children and have visited them. They touch the lives of everyone they meet, they are fiercely in-love and loyal to one another…they even sponsor a Monkey guys…just insane Humans they are and the two of them together are a force, a great, great force.
After the Ceremony was over we all went to the Reception Venue (Brevard Lumber Company) and this is where Krafty Kathy shined the brightest I have ever seen! You walk in and see the outside area first. There were little tables set-up with mason jars full of lights and baby’s breath, for where the band played, so people could nicely sit and enjoy the music (they moved these tables out of the way later when the Band was done and the DJ set-up to get yet another dance party started). There was the guest book area that had two galvanized pails, one contained Jenga pieces that you could take a sharpie and write your name and a little note to them. Then once you were done, you placed your completed Jenga piece into the second pail. There was a fire pit that contained the same mason jars full of baby’s breath and lights, and behind the fire pit there was a table set up with all the fixings for S’mores. They had hors d’oeuvres floating around and a BACON station that had chocolate bacon along with other bacon items. When you walked inside the venue, where dinner was served, there was the card table decked out with pictures of Bryan and Jamie along with other decor. Then behind the card table there was a slide show playing, with pictures of Bryan and Jamie, along with their friends and family. Their cake table was simple and elegant with a picture of them, mason jar with a candle, and the cake was displayed with moss and on-top of rustic round tree serving boards. The Guests’ tables had moss going down the center, mason jars with candles in some, baby’s breath in other mason jars and Limelight Hydrangeas in other mason jars, that were set on rustic round tree boards. The place settings were cards held by a wine cork. Everything was just to the T perfect! The food was delicious, the cake was perfect, the drinks were flowing and the music was on point!
Not only was this a wedding I’ll never forget because it was one of my best friend’s but I will also never forget it because of how perfectly it was done…can I get married again and have you plan mine Jamie?! Just kidding…kind of! But to end this post I do want to wish Bryan and Jamie a lifetime full of love and happiness, for your days to not always be perfect but for you to each take a bad day and make it perfect for the other. Thank you for allowing us all to be apart of your Wedding Day and for your Marriage going forward. I can’t wait to be at your 50th Anniversary party. Cheers!!
