Ahhh so I know everyone is reading this title thinking “Jen, just stop! It’s still the middle of the Summer, I don’t want to think about chilly, or cold weather AT ALL!” And normally I would totally agree with you, but if you are in search of a real leather jacket, you need to hit Wilson’s Leather up RIGHT now. I mean right this second, do not wait! All of their leather jackets are around 50-80% off.
A while back, I was reading Lauren Conrad’s fashion blog, and the post was something along the lines of “What should be in a girl’s closet by the age of 30” a leather jacket was one of the items on her list. So of course since I turned 30 this year, I have been telling myself “Jen, you need to take Lauren’s advice.” I have a few faux leather jackets and while I like them, I have always yearned for a real one (Mom, don’t roll your eyes and say “I have your leather jacket back from when you were in middle school, just use that one!” Because sorry the style has changed and I just can’t). So I started investigating leather jackets this “off-season” so to speak, and well I found Wilson’s big Summer-time Sale!!
So I went to our Wilson’s outlet store and I found one maroon colored leather jacket that I just fell in love with. I thought it would be the perfect color as it would go with both my black and caramel outfits/accessories, killing two birds with one stone. I picked it up for 75% off, score! I brought it home and I was so excited that I tried it on with all the outfits/accessories I was dreaming of in my head, and it was perfect. It gave the best pop of color to both my black and caramel outfits/accessories. Especially the black outfits, and if you know me, you know 80% of my closet it geared towards black, white, or grey…basically all the colors that go with black, ha!
But the longer I had this maroon leather jacket, the more and more I started questioning my decision. What about my bright colored trousers that I like to wear? Like my royal blue, red, pink, and maroon pair? “Oh my goodness, I love my maroon pair, I wear them all the time in the fall/winter” and “Oh gosh what about my army green colored trousers, I love those too, and army green and maroon together will look weirdly like Christmas, maybe I made the wrong decision?!!”
I knew that if I went back for the black leather jacket, that I could wear black with all of my caramel outfits/accessories as well as all of my black outfits/accessories, and then I could wear the black with all of my fun colored trouser, that I so desperately admire. So my mind was sold, I was going to return the maroon leather jacket and get the black one. But just incase I had my Mother-in-Law come along with me and I wore my royal blue pants as a reference. We tried each color jacket on and even with the royal blue pants the maroon leather jacket just looked better than the black. It was the pop of color. So I came back home without the black leather jacket and kept the maroon one.
Then a few more days went by and the pink, red, and army green trousers were still in my mind, something just wasn’t sitting right. When my in-laws left from their visit they gifted me with $100 and while I didn’t want to take it my Mother-in-law insisted (Thanks Mom, you truly saved me from my big dilemma). Later that night I sat down to write this blog post and saw that the black leather jacket was down to $115!! I yelled to Mike and talked to him about my situation, and he told me to just use the $100 and go get the black leather jacket, that it would only be like $25 out of our pocket…so I did! And I couldn’t be any happier of a girl at the moment.
If you are in search of a leather jacket for the Fall/Winter..and even into the Spring of this upcoming year, do not wait until the prices go back up.
